Overview

Lake Garda (Lago di Garda), Italy’s largest lake, is located about halfway between Milan and Venice. From the breathtaking Dolomites at the north end of the lake to the gentle, rolling hills to the south, Lake Garda is divided between the provinces of Verona, Brescia and Trento in northern Italy.  Olive groves, lemon trees, oleander and vineyards abound due to the Mediterranean climate of Lake Garda.  Charming and quaint villages surround the lake with a proud sense of the region emanating from the people you meet.

Beautiful Lake Garda

Most Americans, when they hear of the Lakes of Italy think of Lake Como...Lake Garda tends to not be on the itinerary of many Americans and I can’t seem to figure out why.  The countryside is beautiful, the food is fabulous, the people are delightful and from a traveling point of view, it’s easy to get to.  Germans and Austrians seem to be the main tourist group that visit Lake Garda with most innkeepers and shop employees speaking German.   But American tourists, not so much.  So maybe we just enjoy this very special slice of Italy and keep it to ourselves.  And if you can’t get to Lake Garda right now, why not enjoy a few of the products from this lovely and enchanting region of Italy.
